Breka - 24 HOURS BAKERY

OK, I haven't really blogged in almost a month and I promised myself that I would never blog from work again but this is just TOO MUCH: A bakery that's OPEN 24 HOURS.

How awesome is this? I've been fiddling with this post for almost half an hour now (the reason why I shouldn't be blogging from work) and I'm still excited. I've always wanted a 24-HOUR BAKERY. And, to boot, I never thought Vancouver would be the type of city to have a 24-HOUR BAKERY. I'm so proud! I'm so jubilant! This makes me happier than the installation of those two TVs on Granville & Robson.

I was just on hold when my mouse started to wander down my Bookmarks and I checked out VanEats. Wow! Was I ever served a delicacy of information! Roland writes "they are now OPEN 24 HOURS and have the same bakers so you can still get mohnkuchen (as yummy as ever, still highly recommended!) and European style bread."

They could solely sell hamburger buns and I'd still be stoked but the fact that their treats are delicious just makes it all the better. I've never been to Breka before but I'll be making massive detours in this coming year and indulge in the latest step to being a metropolis.

Just ducking in to give a prop to the Siegel's Bagels at 1883 Cornwall St. just off the south end of the Burrard Bridge -- while their selection is admittedly limited to what you might expect at a bagelry, they have been rocking the mind-blowing 24-HOUR BAKERY category for years now, much to the delight of late-night bike riders provided an extra eats choice between the Denny's / Hamburger Mary's axis of grease. Cheers.

I don't like Siegel's.

You missed the best part: it's both a bakery and coffee shop, with comfortable chairs. They usually make a very good cappuccino (depending on who's working), which is perfect with their excellent sweets. Also, they are far, far too close to my house. :)

I'm totally sold on this.

Yo, so I went there last night after work after reding your review and cravinf the Mohnkuchen. When I showed up, not only were they out of that, they also didn't have any buns. At 6:30pm!
I settled for an Almond Square.
I'll give it another try, but this one was rather disappointing.

See, I can't even spell today without some Mohnkuchen!

That totally sucks, Fabian.

They have free wireless Internet access, too. I think some of their goods are a little too sweet, but I have not been able to convince anyone else that this is a bad thing.

I've been to Breka, and it's AMAZING. It's located right across Starbucks near Fraser st. and 50th ave. Everything there looks so delicious. They have comfy couches and FREE wireless internet connection for those of us who like to surf the web while sipping a delicious mocha. WTG Vancouver! Finally Fraser St. can become hip and trendy.

I'm always surprised when there's coffee shop to die for in front of a Starbucks but people will still go to the Starbucks. Fucking bizarre.
